The Dizon family, thru Bacolod First Lady Josefa “Patching” Dizon Puentevella, donated an HR Ocampo masterpiece painting to the University, in memory of the late Br. Roly Dizon, an icon of excellence with compassion to the Lasallian community.

Br. Rolando “Roly” R. Dizon FSC was the former university president and chancellor. For him, excellence is like a work of art. He lived his life full of color, but everyone knows he is green to the core throughout his life. He was able to paint a vision of how society should be and what the role of education should be. This he did by inspiring many educators and students as well as professionals in other fields to seek excellence with a soul that knows no limits.

Br. Roly may not be visible in the eyes of those he loved, but his good deeds and precious memories shared, will remain visible to a Lasallian heart, forever.

Ms. Lyn Mapa, Museum Director, welcomed the guests for the event, and thanked the Dizon family for sharing a work of a master to the University where it shall be appreciated by the Lasallian community and guests. “We too thank God our Master Creator for the gift of Bro. Roly”, Ms. Mapa said.

“Good Friday”, a 1978 original oil painting by national artist Hernando R. Ocampo, was unveiled at Museo de La Salle- Bacolod last April 25, 2016, and was marked by a signing of a deed of donation by University President and Chancellor Br. Mawel Pajarillo FSC, Mrs. Josefa D. Puentevella, Ms. Reada D. Bantug, and DLSU-Dasmariñas President Br. Gus Boquer FSC.

“Br. Roly loved La Salle very much. He devoted his life to La Salle. He loved the teachers, the students, the brothers, more than family. It’s just fitting that this painting should go to the museum that Br. Gus himself has opened”, First Lady “Patching” Puentevella said in her short speech.

Br. Pajarillo responded by thanking the Dizon family for their generosity. “We feel very honored by this donation, most especially as Br. Roly Dizon is highly respected and loved by our community worldwide.”, Br. President said.
