A total of 103 bags of blood were donated to the Philippine Red Cross-Bacolod Chapter during the Institutional Bloodletting activity of the University of St. La Salle to help counter dengue cases this rainy season.
The 60th Diamond Jubilee Institutional Blood Donation Project with the theme "Patak sang dugo mo, Sugpon sang kabuhi ko" spearheaded by the Integrated School Parents’ Association was held on July 29 at the USLS-IS Primary Covered Court.
Parents, students, faculty, staff and alumni of the university were present to donate blood.
Volunteers from the College of Medicine and Nursing, Health Services Center, National Service Training Program, Parents’ Teachers’ Council, Varsity athletes, PESAR, Integrated School and College Administration joined to facilitate the activity.
"What’s special about this activity is the collaboration of all sectors of the Lasallian community to pursue this cause" says INSPA President Georgina Lorilla.
Chair of the INSPA Health and Sanitation Committee Dr. Lorenzo Cabalfin M.D. together with the International Group of Surgeons-Bacolod Chapter ensured the safety of the blood donors during the activity.
"On behalf of INSPA, I would like to thank everyone who took part in the activity, because of your generosity and selflessness, it was a success." Lorilla added.
Members of the Armed forces of the Philippines and community partners from Gawad Kalinga also donated their blood.
