Academic Programs


Bachelor of Arts

Communication

BA Communication is a Communication-based program that covers fields of journalism, development communication, broadcasting, communication research, multi media studies, film, public relations, advertising, and the creative arts like theater and stage performance. Students are expected to do design thinking and production outputs in various courses. At the end of the four-year program, students are expected to be exposed to the industry through internship, an educational trip and their Senior Project.

Interdisciplinary Studies

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies aims to develop protean graduates capable of viewing and addressing world realities from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The Department offers a four-year Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (ABIDS) program that provides students opportunities to define and design careertrack that suits their individual learning and career goals. The core curriculum offers theoretical and practical tools to integrate knowledge, drawn from 2 disciplines like Psychology and Education, Public Management and Communication, Information Technology and Business Management, or any combination of two disciplines within or across Colleges.
Given the variety of programs in the AB-IDS curriculum, graduates have diverse career opportunities whether in media, human resources management, public relations and corporate communications, information technology, sales and marketing, entrepreneurship, government services, to name a few.

 Political Science

The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (BA PoS) Program is designed to provide college students the essential theoretical and methodological background for the study of politics and law especially for those who intend to proceed to the post graduate study in the field of law, public management or other related Political Science discipline.
Through teaching, research, and community outreach, the Program aims to educate future leaders in their chosen fields who will work towards the development of institutions of good governance, sustainable development, peace and justice, inclusiveness and respect for human rights and the processes of democratization and popular empowerment in the local, national and international levels.

 Psychology

The AB Psychology program is anchored on a liberal arts education which aim to train students to analyze understand and appreciate the complexities of human mental processes and behavior and equip them with knowledge, skills and values to perform tests in various settings such as school, industry and community. This will prepare them for other career opportunities in Guidance and Counseling, Early Childhood Education, Forensic Psychology, Law, Human Resource Development and Clinical work.
Students enrolled in the program have options whether to take A.B. in Psychology only or opt to have additional certificates in Marketing, and Human Resources Management by enrolling specified courses in these fields.

Bachelor of Science

 Biology

The Bachelor of Science in Biology program is structured as a generalized framework of study with the end view of grounding students with the fundamental concepts and principles and theories of the biological, natural and physical sciences and the conduct of research. This includes the acquisition of appropriate skills and training to prepare them for either medical studies, biological research, tertiary teaching, environmental & microbiological works. The curriculum consists of course work in the classroom, laboratory and field/community as well as on- the- job trainings.

 Psychology

The BS Psychology program is anchored in the natural sciences and is intended for college students who wish to proceed to Medicine proper. General Admission Policies

1. College freshmen seeking admission to the College of Arts and Sciences must present/comply with the following requirements:

  • Report Card 138 (4th year) Average
  • UBAT Score Sheet
  • NSO Birth Certificate (certified true copy)
  • Accomplished Recommendation Form (from H.S. Principal)
  • Accomplished Application Form for Admission (SA I)
  • Application Fee Receipt
  • Accomplished Undertaking (2x2 ID picture)
  • Medical Certificate (USLS Health Center)
  • Interview

 

2. Students seeking admission to any of the major degree Programs must meet the requirements for admission set by the specific Department.

 

General Retention Policies

  1. Students admitted to any of the degree programs of the College of Arts and Sciences must comply with all the requirements set by the department.
  2. Students admitted on probation should comply with the conditions provided by the Department Chair concerned.
