Center for Lasallian Ministries (CELAM)
The Center for Lasallian Ministries (CELAM) oversees the conduct of retreats/recollections, liturgical and paraliturgical services, mission collection and activities in the Main Chapel
Attendance in Recollections
All freshmen, sophomores and terminal year (4th and 5th years) students are required to attend a one-day recollection conducted by the Center for Lasallian Ministries (CELAM) as part of the student formation program. These recollections are institutional Lasallian formation activities.
Faculties concerned are enjoined to encourage their students to attend and to actively participate in their class recollection. Upon the discretion of faculty concerned, they may give added points as an incentive to the student.
Students are excused from their classes the whole day (from 7:30- 8:30) on their scheduled recollection. A certification of attendance at the recollection can be issued by the CELAM office upon the student’s request.
Freshmen and Sophomores’ Recollections
CELAM coordinates with the Religious Studies (RS) department for the freshmen and sophomores’ recollections. RS faculty concerned will monitor the attendance of their respective classes. If a student fails to attend his scheduled recollection, he can join another class recollection. The student is marked double absent in his RS classes. If a student fails to attend a recollection for his year level at the end of the semester, the RS faculty concerned shall report the student to the Discipline Office. Sanctions will be administered by the Discipline Office.
The sophomores’ recollections are conducted on the first semester and the freshmen recollections are conducted on the second semester. The schedules of the students’ recollection are announced by the RS teachers at the beginning of the semester. The schedules are published in the College Daily Bulletin.
Freshmen and sophomores’ recollections are conducted on their RS2 and RS3 classes respectively. Students who enroll in RS2 and RS3 in the summer term are also required to attend the year level recollection.
Students who failed their RS2 and RS3 classes are not required to attend the year level recollection when they take these subjects again. However, their RS teacher will require them to submit a certificate of attendance at the year level recollection they attended to validate exemption from the activity. The CELAM office will issue the certificate of attendance at the recollection upon request.
Graduating Students’ Recollection
CELAM coordinates with the Department Chairpersons of the different colleges for the graduating students’ recollections. Graduating students are identified as 4th year Nursing, Education, CBA, CAS and 5th year Engineering students. The Department Chairpersons inform the students about their scheduled recollection at the beginning of the academic year. The schedule is also published in the College Daily Bulletin.
This formation program is considered an exit activity to their graduation. The students’ recollections are conducted throughout academic year. If a student fails to attend his scheduled recollection, he can join another class recollection. If a student fails to attend a recollection at the end of the academic year, sanctions will be administered by their respective department chairpersons.
