BALAYAN is the Community Development and Volunteer Formation Office. Founded in 1987, it is one of the institution’s concrete responses to its commitment towards social reform and transformation.
Through the years, Balayan has committed itself towards the building of self-reliant, empowered and sustainable communities rooted in Christian values. It has been engaged in a variety of programs and services geared towards uplifting the poor and deprived sectors of society. It also takes the lead role in raising the social consciousness of the Lasallian community and making them involved in community development efforts.
Balayan implements two major programs: The in-reach and outreach programs. The in-reach programs are: volunteer formation, social awareness and advocacy, institutional community extension and Christian service learning program. At present, the outreach programs are: the streetchildren, fisherfolk and community based ecological solid waste management programs.
