ABComm sophomore is Jury’s choice in 180 Microcinema Film Festival

The documentary film entry, “Modelo” of Mel Rose Aguilar was given the Jury selection award for the documentary category in correspondence with Jeremy Segay in Paris, France at the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) office last Jan. 21.

The Jury was consisted of Jeremy Segay of Paris Cinema; Manet Dayrit, the Managing Director of RoadRunner Network, Inc; and award-winning Director, Francis X. Pasion.

The 180 Microcinema Festival is a nationwide online film competition hosted by the FDCP which encourages aspiring Filipino filmmakers to explore a unique, unorthodox approach to filmmaking in 180 immersive seconds.

Winners for two other categories were “Breakfast with Lolo” by Steven Flor for Narrativeand “Ebolusyon ni Kasalanan” by Emerson Reyes for Experimental which also like of the Documentary entry “Modelo”, were each awarded P30,000 and a film development deal from Regal Films.

All of the winning entries will be shown during the Cinemalaya 2010 Festival which will be on July.

Aguilar is an AB Communication student of the University of St. La Salle was also a finalist in the .MOV International Digital Film Competition last 2008 with the entry “Pisi” (String) which was screened at Cinema Rehiyon 2009, Bacollywood Negros Film Festival 2009 and Robinson’s Cinema.
