University Research Center
Before January 1996, the University of St. La Salle had two research centers: the Institute for Social Research and Development (ISRAD), which was organized in 1980 and specialized in social research, and the Integrated Research and Development Center (IRDC), which was organized in 1987 and specialized in business research and development projects.
The two research centers were merged in 1996 into the University Research Center (URC), which, in addition to existing specialization’s in social and business research, was mandated to involve more faculty and administrators in research activities.
The University Research Center is the University’s institutional unit established for the purposed of coordinating and integrating university-wide researches, projects and research-related activities.
The Center is envisioned to cover a relatively wide range of academic, applied and developmental research projects, considering available researches and systems which could be mobilized to ultimately promote quality education and to improve the quality of life of the Negrense community.
Aside from attending to institutional researches and/or projects, the URC may also, upon request, provide to outside clients technical assistance in these areas.
The URC is a member of two national organizations committed to promoting mutual cooperation among researchers—the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) Negros Chapter. It has established working relationships with the Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix (FUNDP), Department of Geography, the University of Groningen of the Netherlands, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology of Australia, the Danish International Development Agency, the Environmental Education Network of the Philippines, and the Women’s Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP).
