Hospitality Management students may now pursue their internship program in the United States as the University of St. La Salle signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Trainee Network (ITN) on August 13 at the University Boardroom.
ITN, an educational and cultural organization, specializes in practical training programs in hotel and tourism industry.
President and Chancellor Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC represented USLS in the signing of the MOU while ITN was represented by Country Manager Atty. Noel Salo.
In the signed MOU, ITN will offer the J-1 Trainee and Intern Program and the Work and Travel Program to USLS.
The J-1 Traineeship and Internship Programs deploy young professionals, graduates and undergraduates with international companies in their field of expertise for a period of up to 18 months.
"We are thankful for this partnership with ITN. This gives wider opportunities for our students," Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Marie Therese Jochico said.
For the past months, HM students went through series of trainings. The first batch of international interns is set to leave by the second semester of this academic year.
Eleven of the applicants were hired and are currently processing their J1 visa requirements.
