ABSTRACT

Effective guidance services in schools hinge on synergistic supervision and organizational support provided to guidance counselors. This study explores the perceptions of 117 guidance designates across elementary and secondary public schools in two divisions of Northern Negros Occidental regarding the extent of synergistic supervision by school heads and perceived organizational support. The research employed a cross-sectional design utilizing a standardized questionnaire incorporating the Synergistic Supervision Scale (SSS) and the Perceived Organizational Support Test (PSS), with results having undergone mean, standard deviation, and Spearman correlation. Findings indicate a predominantly middle-aged cohort of guidance designates with a significant proportion holding advanced degrees, suggesting a commitment to professional development within the field. Participants perceived a high level of decision-making inclusiveness and support for professional development through synergistic supervision. Similarly, they reported moderately high organizational support, reflecting a positive work environment conducive to effective guidance delivery.  Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between synergistic supervision and organizational support with a p-value of 0.026, underscoring their interconnectedness in shaping the experiences and outcomes of guidance designates. Recommendations include strategies for professional development and fostering supportive work environments within educational settings. This study contributes insights into enhancing Strategic Training and Guidance Development Initiative guidance programs through supportive supervision practices and organizational policies.
