ETHICS in PUBLICATION
A. Mandatory Author Declaration
An Author Declaration is a mandatory part of a submission. This Declaration covers several logistic and ethical issues.
1. Authorship
It is required that the Author Declaration be signed by all authors through PEO Forms 1 and 2. Authorship is reserved for persons who make all persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship, and all those who qualify should be listed. Each author should have participated sufficiently to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content.
Authorship credit should be based only on 1) substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data; 2) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and 3) final approval of the version to be published. Conditions 1, 2, and 3 must all be met.
The authorship order on the by-line is a matter for the institution(s) and must be agreed upon by all named authors before submission. Addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names is not allowed once PEO Form 1 has been secured and approved by PEO and the publication process commences.
1.1 Corresponding Author
The corresponding author or the lead author should take responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole, from inception to published article. They are responsible for the manuscript moving through the journal’s submission process. The PEO recognizes the corresponding author's name, address, and valid email address upon submission of pertinent PEO Forms.
This author must be recognized by the Managing Editor and the PEO, as all correspondence pertaining to the manuscript will be sent to them via email. The Corresponding Author is responsible for making any edits/submitting revisions to the manuscript and is the only author who may be informed of the manuscript's progress as it moves from one stage to the next. They are responsible for communicating with the other co- authors about progress, revisions, and final approval of the proofs. In cases where publication assistance is needed, the corresponding author may freely consult with or ask for help from other co-authors as they deem proper and relevant. The corresponding author will secure arrangements with these kinds of assistance and collaboration.
1.2 Co-Authors
The Co-authors collaborate with the lead author and significantly contribute to the manuscript.
B. Acknowledgements
All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship, such as a person who provided purely technical help or writing assistance or a department chair who provided only general support, should be listed in the acknowledgments. Financial and material support should also be recognized in the acknowledgments. Acknowledgments are written after the AI Declaration or the Conflict of Interest, if there is any.
