41 USLS students receive CHED-SMART grants

A total of 41 USLS student-grantees from the Fifth District of Negros Occidental received their CHED - Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) Grants at the Santuario De La Salle on January 13.

These 41 USLS students are among the 80 grantees eligible to receive the grant.

The objective of the CHED - SMART Grant program is to provide a one-time fixed grant to qualified students enrolled in any undergraduate program for AY 2023-24.

This initiative is part of the National Employment Recovery Strategy, aiming to enhance the success of students in graduating through scholarships despite the lingering effects of the pandemic.

Present during the ceremony were Raul Alvarez Jr., CHED Regional Office VI Director and Hon. Emilio Bernardino Yulo, Congressman of Negros Occidental 5th District, who delivered an inspirational message.

Representing USLS at the event were Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Annabelle Balor and Jennifer Pabalinas, Director of the Admissions and Scholarship Administration Office.

During his inspirational message, Cong. Yulo encouraged the grantees to "pay it forward and be mindful of time."
