Big Wins for USLS Engineers at the NIR Regional CpE Challenge 2026

Students from the College of Engineering of the University of St. La Salle delivered strong performances at the NIR Regional CpE Challenge 2026 organized by the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines on April 11, held online via Zoom. Representing the University across multiple categories, the delegation secured top placements in programming, robotics, esports, and academic competitions.

The annual regional challenge gathered Computer Engineering students from across the Negros Island Region to demonstrate technical competencies and problem-solving skills through various competitive events. This year’s edition provided participants with opportunities to benchmark their knowledge and collaborate within the broader engineering community.

Among the notable achievements, Ares Daniel Janagap emerged as Champion in the Java Programming Competition, while Christian Jed Gonzales earned 1st Runner Up in the C Programming Competition.

Julius Jovia Jr. placed 1st Runner Up in the Python Programming Competition, and Karl Lawrence Ma secured 2nd Runner Up in the C++ Programming Competition.

In the Quiz Bowl Competition, Joseph Raymund Ogapong, Kenneth Ray Pedrajas, and Ruan Pablo Justiniani finished as 1st Runner Up.

The University also achieved recognition in collaborative and innovation-driven categories.

The Mobile Legends Competition team composed of Jerome Calacat, Kenneth Villanueva, Rowin Mahilum, Alexis Silpao, and Kenn Gabriel Guanzon Sausa placed 2nd Runner Up, while the Robothon Competition team of Gerho Gatalena, Mary Angeli Gumban, and Mychele Angelique Paypon earned 1st Runner Up.

These accomplishments reflect the University’s continued commitment to strengthening student excellence in computer engineering and technology-related fields.

Through participation in regional academic competitions, USLS reinforces its efforts to equip future engineers with industry-relevant competencies, innovation, and collaborative skills.
