The University’s College of Computing Studies (CCS) engages in its first international student exchange program with Kyungpook National University (KNU) in Daegu, South Korea. Second-year Bachelor of Science in Entertainment, Multimedia and Computing Studies student, Yves Denisse R. Cortes has been admitted to the Student Exchange Program of KNU for the Fall 2026 semester.
From September 1 to December 18, she will join KNU as a non-degree-seeking undergraduate student under KNU's Department of Media and Communication, where she will be listed under the Media Communication major.
During her exchange, Cortes will take courses including Korea in Motion: Korean Film and the Korean Wave, World of Storytelling, and Intelligent Human-Computer Interface. These courses will allow her to explore the intersections of media, technology, storytelling, culture, and human-computer interaction, complementing her studies in entertainment, multimedia, and computing.
KNU’s Department of Media and Communication offers academic programs in journalism, digital media, and communication studies. Through the exchange, Cortes will have the opportunity to broaden her academic perspective while gaining firsthand exposure to Korea’s media and cultural landscape.
Cortes’ participation is part of the Center for Linkages and International Affairs (CLIA) Short-Term Exchange Program, which provides USLS students with opportunities to pursue international academic experiences, engage with partner institutions, and develop intercultural and global competencies.
The exchange is supported by the growing academic partnership between USLS and KNU, which was formally strengthened through the launch of the Global Initiative Center for Exchange (GIC-E) on November 26, 2025.
The partnership creates opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, joint research, curriculum collaboration, and other academic initiatives that advance international academic cooperation between the two institutions.
As the first CCS student to participate in an international exchange program, Cortes’ experience establishes a new pathway for future CCS students to pursue international academic opportunities and gain exposure to diverse academic and cultural perspectives.
