Lasallian Accountancy Students Win Awards in Accounting Research Festival

Five accountancy teams from the University secured spots among the Top 15 finalists in the 3rd Accounting Students Research Festival Research Poster Making Contest held on March 22, organized by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in partnership with PWC Philippines-Isla Lipana & Co.

The team of Dave Andrew Baga, Chris Jey Gumata, Kyna Hosillos, and Juan Carlos Zuloaga, 4th-year Accountancy students, clinched the championship title with their study, “Hotter Planet, Higher Yields? Climate Risk and Government Bond Yields in Asia.” Their research also earned them the Top 1 Best Poster Layout and Top 3 Most Facebook Engagement Poster awards.

Another team of 4th-year Accountancy students, composed of Gerard Alvarez, Marie Therese De La Rama, Cris Antoinette Hilado, Jean Lyka Lunas, Katelyn Matsumoto, and Myrrh Keilah Nino, secured the 4th Runner-up position with their study, “From Ethics to Equity: The ESG-Firm Value Correlation,” which won the Top 3 Best Poster Layout award.

Three other Lasallian teams from the Management Accounting and Accountancy programs also made it to the Top 15 finalists with their respective studies, “Sustaining the Spark!: Assessing the Financial Sustainability of Electric Cooperatives in Negros Occidental,” “Peel Good Profits! How Bacolod City Stays Fresh with Smart Pricing and Inventory,” and “Costing and Pricing Strategies of Onion Plantations in Negros Occidental.”

The research festival was organized to promote ethical and professional values among students through research. The contest encouraged a greater appreciation of the ethical obligations and professional standards of their field and enhance their analytical and research skills.
