Six tourism educators from the University’s College of Tourism and Hospitality Management were officially accredited by the Bacolod City Government and the Department of Tourism Region VI as Professional Community Tour Guides on August 3 at Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center.

The newly accredited educators are Dr. Ostein Earn G. Gemotea, Ms. Bea Marielle B. Sibugan, Ms. Lyn Marie L. Mapa, Dr. John Michael Montelibano, Dr. Leane Adele L. Linaugo, and Dr. Christine Mae G. Montenegro.

They completed a seven-day training program organized by the Bacolod City Government in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region VI from July 28 to August 3.

Conducted at major city landmarks such as the Capitol Lagoon, San Sebastian Cathedral, Yulo’s Park, the Negros Museum, and Manokan Country, the training featured blended lecture sessions, hands-on exercises, and a culminating mock tour assessment.

Four Lasallian educators received special awards for their exemplary performance during the training.

The recognition for Best in Commentary Development was awarded to Ms. Lyn Marie L. Mapa, while the award for Best in Mock Tour Guiding Assessment was given to Ms. Bea Marielle B. Sibugan, Dr. Ostein Earn G. Gemotea, and Dr. Leane Adele L. Linaugo.

The program emphasized competencies in tourism fundamentals, safety and basic life support, effective communication, cultural interpretation, and environmental awareness.

These achievements further strengthen the University’s position as a beacon of tourism education in the region and highlight the role of tourism educators as leaders and agents of community empowerment and heritage promotion.
