Maskara Theatre Ensemble performs at the CCP
The Maskara Theatre Ensemble of the University of St. La Salle (USLS) performs at the 50th anniversary of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP).
From September 19-21, 2019, the USLS Maskara Theatre Ensemble was featured among other groups as part of the different showcases in Experimental Music, Contemporary Performances and Theatre at the CCP. Presented were the best of local and Asian performances in music, dance and theater that were enjoyed by performing arts enthusiasts, artists and attendees of the Manila International Performing Arts Market (MIPAM) and Create PH. CREATE Philippines 2019 and CCP’s MIPAM collaboration was organized to highlight the Performing Arts sector, a part of the Philippine creative industry that is teeming with talent, innovation and creativity. The Maskara Theatre Ensemble also performs at the CCP’s Cultural Exchange Department (CED), in a collaborative dance drama featuring four leading regional performing groups in “Perlas ng Silangan” (Pearl of the Orient Sun) on 10 October at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater).
From 2014 to 2018, the CCP CED under its program Ugnayan sa Sining successfully mounted and toured four collaborative productions which highlighted the cultural expressions and traditions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The 2019 Ugnayan sa Sining performances are offerings of the center to commemorate its 50th anniversary and the 40th year of its Outreach Program and are intended for students and local communities who have limited or no access/means to experience live cultural engagements at the CCP.
