#PassionWednesday: A Passionate Pursuit in a New Culture

This #PassionWednesday, we dive into the journey of French exchange students at the University as they balance their academic ambitions with a passion for cultural discovery in the Philippines. From pursuing degrees in engineering to embracing and exploring local traditions, USLS provides them an ideal environment for growth. Discover how the University’s welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community have made it their top choice among La Salle schools in the country.

Through the GO-LaSalle mobility program, let's meet Mathieu, Guillemette, Marguerite, Cecilia, Chloe, Coline, Esteban, Manon, Charlotte, and Helen, students from UniLaSalle Polytechnique Institute France, where part of their curriculum aimed to give them an opportunity to study abroad in partner La Salle schools.

Mathieu Adolphe, is pursuing a degree in Food Technology with a focus on environmental sustainability. He views this as a practical way to contribute to environmental preservation, and USLS’s emphasis on social responsibility and sustainability aligns well with his academic goals. Mathieu mentioned that the professionalism of the faculty while maintaining an engaging relationship with students, are memorable in his positive academic journey.

Outside their studies, they engage in activities that reflect their personal passions. Many have embraced Filipino cuisine, savoring traditional dishes. This immersion in local food has allowed them to bond and experience the richness of Filipino culinary heritage. Some also travel to nearby provinces, exploring various aspects of Filipino culture and enjoying outdoor activities like visiting tourist spots.

The University, through its Center for Linkages and International Affairs, fosters a strong sense of community which creates a positive learning atmosphere that has helped these international students thrive, making their experiences meaningful. The students from UniLaSalle France and part of the Go-LaSalle Mobility Program have found an enriching environment at the University where they are completing a semester as part of their engineering studies, and benefiting from the Lasallian educational network with a Go-LaSalle experience in the Philippines.
