Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros will visit the University of St. La Salle on September 19 for a talk on the Mental Health Act and other advocacies at the St. La Salle Coliseum.
The visit will coincide with the University’s observance of Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month and will underscore the importance of the discussion to the Lasallian community.
Hontiveros currently chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography and the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.
Notably, she is the author and principal sponsor of the Philippine Mental Health Act (Republic Act No. 11036), the country’s first national policy on mental health.
The event will bring together administrators, faculty, staff, student leaders, guidance counselors, and other members of the University community.
A dialogue and open forum will follow to encourage participants to share insights and contribute to the conversation on mental health.
