Young Lasallian campus journalists demonstrated excellence in campus journalism, earning the title of 1st Place – Overall Best Performing School at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026–2027.
Held on September 9 at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School (ABES) II, the press conference gathered campus journalists from schools across Bacolod City under the theme “Mapanuri, Mapanindigan, at Mapanagutang Pamamahayag.”
Representing the University were the Basic Education English publications The Lasallian Crossroads for the junior high school (JHS) category and Kapawa for the senior high school (SHS) category. The student journalists competed in individual and group categories covering writing, broadcasting, publishing, and other areas of campus journalism.
In the JHS Individual Category, Ethan Jacob Niere placed 2nd in Sci-Tech Writing, Renzo Antoniño Juachon placed 4th in Copyreading and Headline Writing, Sean Adrian Entac placed 5th in Sports Writing, and Ysabela Garcia placed 7th in News Writing. In the SHS Individual Category, Keanne Carylle De La Cruz secured 1st Place in Copyreading and Headline Writing, Ariana Mary Janeo placed 2nd in Editorial Writing, Jayzher Isagani Buada placed 5th in Feature Writing, and Ma. Frances Peñamora placed 10th in Sports Writing.
For the SHS Group Category, the Online Publishing team, composed of Nicole Andrea Perez, Dave Angelo Llacuna, Louise Eliyah Macalalag, Deseerie Mae Luzon, and Zach Elkanah Cubos, placed 1st Overall. The team also earned 1st Place awards for Best News Page, Best Opinion Page, and Best Feature Page, as well as 3rd Place for Best Sports Page.
The Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting team, composed of Christlyle Vingson, Gia Dionne Rodriguez, Leeyan Emmanuel Dulce, Christine Anne Calopez, Ronick Gabriel Calago, Ena Arabella Reboton, and Dale Martin Degocionan, also placed 1st Overall. The team further secured 1st Place in Best Anchor for Christlyle Vingson, 3rd Place in Best Anchor for Gia Dionne Rodriguez, 1st Place in Best News Presenter for Ronick Gabriel Calago, and 1st Place in Best Technical Application for Dale Martin Degocionan. The team also earned 1st Place in Best Infomercial and 2nd Place in Best Script.
Meanwhile, the Television Scriptwriting and Newscasting team, composed of Earl Terence Pamplona, Quiche Lorraine Prado, Lavin Brook Quilantang, Myiesha Alodaga, Wil Steven Doromal, Daniel Hussain Mohammadi, and Jayden Marc De Oca, placed 2nd Overall. The team also received 2nd Place in Best Anchor for Quiche Lorraine Prado, 3rd Place in Best News Presenter for Lavin Brook Quilantang, 2nd Place in Best Technical Application for Jayden Marc De Oca, and 1st Place in Best Infomercial.
USLS-BEU was recognized as the Best Performing School and Overall Champion, while also placing 2nd in the Best Performing School – Group Category and 3rd in the Best Performing School – Individual Category.
The results were announced during the DSPC awarding ceremony held at ABES II on September 11.
The recognition highlights the students’ continued development in campus journalism and their capacity to represent the school across various journalistic disciplines.
