USLS College of Law enters Stetson International Environmental Moot Court quarterfinals

The USLS Law AniMoot Society Stetson Moot Court Team won the overall best memorial award and advanced to the Quarterfinals in the 28th Southeast Asian Regional Rounds of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition, held at UP Diliman on February 1-3, 2024.

This year's Regional Rounds competition is the biggest to date which involved 27 law school participants from 6 different countries in Southeast Asia.

The team is composed of Garcela Villalobos, Bryan Villarosa, Jarre Gromea, Jose Pacleb III, and Diana Marie Odio, under the guidance of Judge Michael Hanz Villaster, Ms. Carmela Marie Santos, Atty. Christine Tan, with the full support of Dean Ralph Sarmiento.

The team of law students from Bacolod City impressed the judges with their written and oral advocacy skills on a complex environmental issue involving mountain gorillas, impact assessments, coercion, and petroleum production.

The Stetson Moot, organized by the Institute of Biodiversity Law and Policy of Stetson University, in partnership with the UP Institute for International Legal Studies, is the world's leading competition on global environmental law issues such as conservation and sustainability.
