USLS Honors 1040 Senior High School Graduates

A total of 1,040 graduates from Liceo De La Salle - Senior High School were honored during their 6th Graduation Rites held at the St. La Salle Coliseum on June 14.

The graduates consisted of 192 students from the academic track of Accounting, Business, and Management; 32 from the Arts and Design Track with a specialization in Performing Arts; 113 from the academic track of Humanities and Social Sciences Strand; 671 from the academic track of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Strand; and 32 from the Technical, Vocation, and Livelihood Track.

The ceremony commenced with the welcome remarks by the Basic Education Director for Student Welfare and Formation Gilrey J. Vocales, LPT, PhD.

Basic Education Principal Baldomero F. Defensor, PhD, led the Presentation of Graduates, while Br. Joaquin Severino S. Martinez FSC, DMin, the President and Chancellor of USLS, confirmed the graduates.

This year's commencement speaker was Sidrey Mel Flores RMT, the class valedictorian of Liceo Class 2018 and secured the top spot in the March 2023 Medical Technologist Licensure Examination.

In his inspiring speech to the graduates, Flores highlighted the importance of resilience and shared the life lessons he learned despite the numerous accomplishments attributed to him.

He reminded the graduates that life doesn't always go as planned and encouraged them to embrace the unexpected with grace.

"To the Class of 2023, you may leave the halls and grounds of La Salle, but you will remain a Lasallian forever. Wherever you go, always ground yourself in the core values of our founder, St. John Baptist De La Salle, as he taught us. Walk in the spirit of faith, embody the zeal for service, and act in communion with a mission," Flores said.

He also emphasized the significance of prioritizing their well-being, highlighting that self-care should never be compromised. He urged the graduates to remain humble, continue learning even after graduation, and have faith in themselves and in God.

Outstanding students from different academic strands and tracks were presented with the Liceo Exemplary Awards, while Institutional and external awardees were also recognized.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Top 1 student of Class 2023 Paul Gabriel T. Corral delivered a heartwarming speech.

Corral further urged his fellow graduates to set goals and aim for the profession they want to pursue.

“You may dream what you want to be. But nothing beats when you have a goal in mind,” Corral said.

The Graduation Rites also featured the graduates performing their graduation song, "Verge" by Owl City and Aloe Blacc.
