Alliyah Nicole S. Calo-oy (9B) of the University of St. La Salle Integrated School is recognized with a Merit Award along with dozens of Filipino students who won trophies and medals at the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) from 30 August to 2 September 2019.
Based on the competition results posted by the HKIMO-Philippines, the delegates from the Philippines brought home 47 gold, 81 silver, and 92 bronze medals.
The Filipino math whiz kids from various schools across the country also received nine special awards and over 50 merit awards.
According to Andrey Alonso, father of silver medalist Fernando Alonso III, around 500 Filipino students participated in different categories.
Among the other countries who joined were Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Australia, Cambodia, India, Vietnam and Malaysia.
