The University’s Research Ethics Review Committee (RERC) was awarded Level 2 Accreditation on August 15.
This accreditation signifies that the USLS-RERC has demonstrated sufficient competency and efficiency in ethical review, adheres to established standard operating procedures, and maintains adequate administrative support.
As a Level 2–accredited committee, the USLS-RERC is now authorized to review studies involving more than minimal risk, including those that engage vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
With this accreditation, the Research Ethics Review Committee ensures that students, faculty, and researchers of the University uphold and comply with ethical standards in conducting research involving human participants.
It also enables the University to support a broader range of research activities that align with both national and international ethical standards.
This recognition reinforces USLS’s commitment to responsible research practices and guarantees that research carried out under the RERC is conducted fairly, objectively, and responsibly.
Furthermore, the accreditation enhances the University’s reputation and competitiveness among funding agencies, regulatory bodies, and academic partners both in the Philippines and abroad.
