The University’s College of Education is bringing international perspective into the classroom as three students from Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU) in Indonesia begin their classroom observation and experiential learning program.
Valerie Graciella Hartono, Destyna Eka Putri, and Jorell Hartono Pranoto will participate in the program until September 5 at the USLS Integrated School.
The program is part of the College of Education’s internationalization initiatives and is built on the partnership between the University and SCU established through a Memorandum of Agreement in 2024. Through the partnership, students and faculty gain opportunities for international internships, faculty exchanges, and joint academic programs, bringing learning and collaboration beyond the usual classroom setting.
Over the next few weeks, Valerie, Destyna, and Jorell will step into USLS classrooms to observe lessons, engage with teachers and students, and experience firsthand how Philippine basic education works. Their immersion gives them a chance to exchange ideas and compare educational experiences between Indonesia and the Philippines.
As part of their visit, the three students will host a cultural talk and knowledge-sharing session for Lasallian students and teachers, offering the community an opportunity to learn more about Indonesia’s culture, traditions, educational experiences, and perspectives.
Through classroom observations, discussions, and cultural exchange, the program creates opportunities to learn from a different educational landscape while finding common ground across cultures. The initiative further strengthens the USLS-SCU partnership and gives future educators a meaningful opportunity to see education from a broader, more global perspective.
