The University, together with Asia Society Philippines and AidData, held a workshop on the impact of Chinese investments and narratives in the Philippines at Museo De La Salle on September 20, 2024, focusing on media narratives surrounding Chinese investments and their influence on public perception and policy decisions joined by leading experts as they explored the opportunities and challenges of Chinese financing in Philippine development.

The workshop is part of a series of four events across the Philippines aimed to assess the impact of Chinese investments on various sectors and communities in the Philippines, analyze media coverage and narratives related to these investments and enhance local capacity for data-driven reporting and decision-making on PRC infrastructure projects.
The event also highlighted presentations on research reports examining the impact of these investments as well as in-depth discussions and panel sessions with industry experts and stakeholders and showing interactive data visualization dashboards that explored trends and insights.
