Center for Marketing and Communications 17 Aug, 2026

The University’s Yu An Log College of Business and Accountancy (YAL-CBA) Accountancy Department took its learning beyond the classroom with a benchmarking visit to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) in Malaysia on July 16.

The visit provided the delegation with an opportunity to gain insights into TAR UMT’s approach to accountancy education, from program delivery and student support to preparing graduates for the evolving demands of the accounting and business industries.

Beyond benchmarking practices, the visit also opened doors for future academic collaboration. Discussions with TAR UMT’s Faculty of Accountancy, Business and Finance explored potential partnerships involving student and faculty immersions, student exchange programs, and research initiatives that could benefit the business programs of YAL-CBA.

The delegation also gained a closer look at the TAR UMT campus through a tour led by Ms. Lai Thong Yan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy, Business and Finance. As part of the benchmarking activity, the USLS Accountancy Department also observed two accounting classes, providing firsthand insights into the university’s classroom environment and teaching practices.

Representing the University were YAL-CBA Dean Dr. Noreza Causing, Accountancy Program Chair Dr. Leah May Santiago, and Management Accounting and Accounting Information Systems Program Chair Dr. Michael Baylosis, together with Accountancy faculty member Mr. Rienz Barrameda.

Three Accountancy students, Ms. Kristel Nacionales, Ms. Nicole Hautea, and Ms. Jullian Renee Ogapong, also joined the delegation, bringing the student perspective into an experience centered on learning, collaboration, and global exposure.

The engagement with TAR UMT reflects YAL-CBA’s continuing efforts to broaden academic horizons, strengthen international connections, and create opportunities that prepare Lasallian business students to thrive in an increasingly global industry.
