USLS Launches Int’l. Networking, Multilateral Meeting Among HEIs
The University of St. La Salle (USLS), in partnership with Guimaras State College (GSC), recently initiated a 2-day international networking and multilateral meeting among 12 higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines and Asia and the Embassy of Indonesia which focus on CHED’s Five Target Goals: quality and excellence, transparency, international comparability, inclusivenessand sustainability.
Endorsed and supported by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), heads of International Affairs and Linkage offices and other school administrators from the Iloilo State College of Fisheries, the Mindanao State University System, the University of the Philippines System, the Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, Southland College, De La Salle Araneta University, De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, La Salle University Ozamis, Kasetsart University of Thailand, as well as interns from the ICN Business School and the Rennes School of Business in France attended the International Networking following the CHED’s target outcomes:
- Goal 1 – Well-developed global internationalization and linkaging framework
- Goal 2 – Strong crossborder mobility programs and internationalization of Higher Education
- Goal 3 – Improved institutional capacity thru expansion of collaborations and consortia
- Goal 4 – Implementation of CMO 55 s 2016 (IPHE)
- Goal 5 – Recognition of Philippine HEIs in counterpart MOEs
They also benchmarked best practices and resources to create a network of international collaboration through USLS, which culminated with the signing of memoranda of understanding with each participating school on the first day. They also shared their school’s programs on students, staff and student mobility as well as innovations in agriculture, technology and alternative learning programs. Participants then proceeded to Guimaras on the second day for networking with Guimaras State College Administrators and Faculty for field experience and cultural branding.
The meeting resulted to a prompt invitation of Ms. Jennifer Montero, Institutional Officer, Center for Linkages and International by the Mindanao State University System President Habib Macaayong DPA for further networking and discussion on the Indicative Development Plan and field visit at their main campus in Marawi City last Feb. 28-March 2, which some participants also attended.
