The University of St. La Salle is set to host the 3rd CPath National Gathering from January 7 to 9 co-organized with UNHCR Philippines , Department of Justice and Pathways Pilipinas . Offices spearheading the event in the University are the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Mission and Development (OVCMD), BALAYAN, and the Center for Linkages and International Affairs.
The gathering brings together partner schools and key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration by empowering refugee scholars and advancing partnerships that promote access to higher education.
The CPath or Complementary pathways are migration pathways with refugee-specific flexibilities built in, that allow refugees to access work, study and other opportunities outside their countries of origin or asylum. They can also take the shape of programmes created specifically for refugees outside of regular migration programmes or UNHCR-assisted resettlement.
Through academic support, protection mechanisms, and cross-sector collaboration, the program provides pathways for scholars to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to their host communities.
Participants include representatives from the UNHCR, the Department of Justice – Refugees and Stateless Protection Unit, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Bureau of Immigration, the Canadian Embassy, JREC - Future Global Islamic Network Society, Malaysia and member institutions of the consortium: De La Salle Araneta University, De La Salle University–Dasmariñas, San Beda University, Columban College, Tarlac State University, St. Louis University, and USLS.
