About Us

The Institutional Research and Engagement Office (IREO) at the University of St. La Salle is under the office Asst. Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement (CRE) office, the cornerstone for research and community engagement initiatives in and off campus. IREO’s mission is to facilitate and enhance the research capabilities of our institution while fostering meaningful collaborations with both local and global communities. 

IREO is committed to advancing knowledge, promoting innovation, and contributing to the sustainable development of society and the environment. Our key functions include:

  • Strategic Development of Research Agendas: Work with CRE in its effort of spearheading the conceptualization and implementation of the University's research agenda in alignment with its mission, vision, and goals.
  • Management and Support of Research Projects: Overseeing both institutional and externally-funded research projects, providing comprehensive support from inception through to completion.
  • Research Capacity Building: Offering a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening the research skills and capabilities of our faculty, staff, and students, including workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs.
  • Leadership in Biodiversity Research: Leading the development and management of the Biodiversity Research Center located in Granada Campus, which serves as a hub for scientific research, education, and community engagement activities focused on biodiversity conservation.
  • Partnerships and Collaboration: Cultivating and maintaining partnerships with academic institutions, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, industry, and other stakeholders to enhance research opportunities and impact.
  • Funding and Grants Management: Work CRE in assisting in the identification, application, and management of research funding and grants to support the diverse research initiatives of the University.
  • Outreach and Public Engagement: Engaging with the wider community through educational programs, public lectures, and collaborative projects aimed at raising awareness and promoting active participation in addressing global challenges.
  • Oversight of Ethical Research Practices: Ensuring all research activities adhere to the highest ethical standards, including the responsible conduct of research and the humane treatment of animal subjects.
  • Intellectual Property and Commercialization: Coordinating the protection and licensing of intellectual property generated through research activities, facilitating the transfer of technology and knowledge to society.
