Leading with Purpose: The Inspiring Journey of Karyle

Karyle Venice Dela Peña, took her first step into the world of student leadership during her senior high school years, opening a world where she can offer so much to her fellow Lasallians.

Now, Karyle is in her 1st year as a BS Psychology major, and her passion for serving the Lasallian community remains unchanged, as she gladly serves as one of the Batch Zephyr’s Lasallian Ambassador, and as Psychological Society USLS’ very own club ambassador during the last club fair.

Her motivation was simple yet profound – the desire to do more for her community and a relentless pursuit of personal growth. As she explored the vibrant organizational culture at La Salle, she was captivated by the fervor with which students engaged in the Lasallian community. Witnessing students actively working to impact the lives of others ignited a fire within her. Karyle yearned to provide her own positive contributions and to represent the concerns and ideas of her peers. Thus, she bravely stepped out of her comfort zone and challenged herself by joining various clubs as a grade 11 student.

Like any journey, Karyle's path as a student leader was not without its share of challenges. From the onset, she grappled with the difficulty of asking for help and effectively delegating tasks. Balancing her academic workload with her extracurricular responsibilities proved to be a formidable task, often leaving her feeling overwhelmed. The occasional burnouts, the weight of making crucial decisions for the organization, and the pursuit of a healthy work-life balance added to her challenges. Her innate shyness compounded her struggle as she found herself overthinking interactions with fellow members.

Despite these trials and tribulations, Karyle's unwavering commitment to her role as a student leader has been a beacon of hope for her peers. Her driving force, as she puts it, is the whisper of purpose that resonates in her mind, transcending the obstacles that come her way. What makes her role fulfilling is the symphony of collective progress. Karyle finds joy in witnessing the Lasallian community thrives, knowing that her service contributes to the harmonious melody of a united student body.

To those who aspire to follow in her footsteps, Karyle offers sage advice: "Never be afraid to take up space." She encourages students to overcome their fears and doubts, reminding them that it's okay to have reservations and moments of uncertainty. For Karyle, these moments become stepping stones to personal growth. She urges all to be catalysts for positive change and to embrace the opportunity to boost student engagement.

Karyle Venice A. Dela Peña's journey as a student leader is a testament to the power of passion and purpose. With the world’s noise and distractions, she stands as a reminder that the pursuit of a greater good can bring clarity and fulfillment to our lives.

As her symphony of service continues to play on, Karyle's story serves as an inspiration to us all, encouraging us to step out of our comfort zones and contribute to the betterment of our communities.
