#PassionWednesday with Nellbert John P. Minerva

It's hard to imagine a student successfully managing three complex areas of life: sports, business, and studies. Yet, for one individual who started his journey from the ground up and is now making waves in the Lasallian community, passion is all it takes. Meet basketball varsity player Nellbert John P. Minerva in this week's #PassionWednesday.

Amidst the uncertainties of the pandemic, Nellbert found an opportunity. Armed with a modest capital of 4000 PHP, he entered the world of commerce, starting with buying and selling phones. As his business acumen grew, so did his ventures. A year later, he expanded into motorcycles, and eventually, with a burgeoning capital, set his sights on the automobile market. The journey from phones to cars was not just about transactions; it was about transforming a meager investment into a thriving enterprise.

"It's about taking those initial steps, no matter how small, and having the audacity to dream big," Nellbert shares, reflecting on the humble roots of his now-thriving business.

For Nellbert, balancing academics and entrepreneurship is no small feat. Maintaining his grades to remain part of the esteemed Lasallian Stingers while diligently running a growing business requires discipline and time management.

"I wake up at 4:30 am every day," he reveals. "Our basketball practice starts at 5:30 am. After that, it's straight to classes. During breaks, that's when I handle business meet-ups."

Nellbert's schedule is a testament to his determination and passion for what he does, showcasing the resilience required to pursue one's dreams amidst a demanding academic environment.

For those hesitant to follow their passions, Nellbert shares this wisdom: "Take a risk, or you'll have endless regrets in the future. However, before you leap, make sure you know what you're doing. Seek advice, learn from others, and never underestimate the power of preparation."

In a world that often demands specialization, Nellbert's story stands as a reminder that individuals are not confined to a singular identity. The courts of academia, sports arenas, and entrepreneurial landscapes may seem disparate, but for this varsity player turned entrepreneur, they are interconnected threads weaving a unique success story.

Given the choice between a championship title, a steady income, or anything else, Nellbert remains focused on earning a diploma, which he describes as his 'ultimate prize' for all the hard work he has invested.

As the final buzzer sounds on the basketball court, Nellbert continues to dribble his way through the complex game of life, proving that with dedication, passion, and a touch of entrepreneurial flair, anyone can score big in their chosen pursuits.
