U-GAD program re-launch, suicide prevention awareness activity set on Sept. 9

The USLS Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Committee is set to re-launch the U-GAD program with a series of activities at the College Forum, 3pm, on Sept. 9.

The re-launch program aims to raise awareness, appreciation and adherence of the University to the mandates of CMO 1, S2015 (Establishing GAD in the HEIs).

USLS-GAD, in collaboration with the Guidance and Evaluation Center (GEC) and the Human Resource and Development Services (HRDS), will also engage members of the Lasallian community with activities in line with the commemoration of International Suicide Prevention Month.

Dr. Rowena V. Banes, chair of the U-GAD Focal Committee and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences will lead the opening remarks. Meanwhile, performances from the University Dance Crew, Masskara Theater and Musikat will be featured during the said event.

The event will also include a candle lighting activity in memory of the victims and survivors of suicide and will be capped with a ZUMBA Fitness Exercise as a call for Wellness and Wholeness to end the Stigma against Women and Suicide.

GEC will also launch on Friday a special podcast for students that will tackle suicide prevention. The podcast will be streamed via the GEC Facebook page and will be available on Canvas.
