USG prexy to join ASEAN Young Leaders Programme 2022 in Cambodia

Political Science student Fred Louie Donguez has been selected to participate and represent the University in the 2022 ASEAN Young Leaders Programme (AYLP) to be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Oct. 12-14.

Donguez, who also serves as the president of the University Student Government, will be joined by other young leaders from the ASEAN region in an enriching online and in-person program that will tackle issues on Climate Change & Sustainability, Digital Growth, and Future of Work.

Participants this year shall focus on addressing the challenge, “How can the youth play an active role to leverage megatrends in ASEAN?”

“To represent the University, the city of Bacolod, the province of Negros Occidental, and the Philippines in the international scene under the ASEAN Young Leaders Programme 2022 is a great honor and a rare opportunity. I will surely enjoy this trip and I hope to learn a lot of meaningful lessons that I can apply here in my community,” Donguez said.

The ASEAN Young Leaders Programme is a leadership development program for young leaders across the South East Asia region.

This leadership initiative is targeted to youth aged 18-25 and is jointly implemented by the National Youth Council of Singapore and its partners.

Earlier this year, Donguez also represented USLS by being a delegate to the Ayala Young Leaders Congress.
