The University of St. La Salle launched a DLSU Science Foundation–funded research training program, “From Ideas to Impact: Creating Avenues to #publishandflourishv4.0,” from November 17 to 19 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
More than 100 faculty members from the University and other provincial La Salle schools joined the three-day workshop aimed at strengthening research and publication skills.
The program’s first session featured workshops on phenomenological inquiries, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis led by academic experts.
Organized by the Publication and Engagement Office (PEO) under the Center for Research and Engagement, the program focuses on helping faculty develop publishable research papers and encouraging collaboration among La Salle institutions.
“This initiative helps enhance research capability and productivity across La Salle schools,” said Dr. Joval Martinez, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Higher Education Research, during the opening remarks.
Resource speakers included Dr. Socorro Aguja of De La Salle Araneta University and Dr. Maricar Prudente of DLSU-Manila, who discussed systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Dr. Constantino Ballena, JD, of DLSU-Dasmariñas led the session on phenomenological research.
Participants are required to submit research proposals and publication outputs throughout the program. A virtual consultation will take place in February 2026, followed by the final in-person critiquing and approval in June 2026.
Schools that joined the training include De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial School–Cebu, De La Salle John Bosco College–Bislig, La Salle Academy–Iligan, La Salle University–Ozamiz City, La Salle University–Misamis Occidental, and St. Joseph School–La Salle Bacolod.
USLS administrators Br. President Joaquin Severino Martinez FSC, DMin, Chancellor Minnie Chua, and Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement Dr. Romeo Teruel were also present.
